The short version: the app collects nothing and sends nothing. The website collects only the email address you give us so we can tell you when SameScan launches.

The app

SameScan runs entirely on your Mac. Scanning, comparison, the review screen, and the log of what you moved to the Trash are all local. The app does not upload your photos, file names, hashes, or anything else. There is no account to create and no sign-in.

The app contains no analytics and no tracking. If a future version adds an optional feature that contacts the internet, such as checking for updates or letting you send a bug report, it will be described here first, and anything that sends data will ask you before it does.

This website

The only information this website collects is the email address you type into the launch-notification form, if you choose to. We use it for one purpose: to email you when SameScan launches.

The form and the list are run by Kit (formerly ConvertKit), an email newsletter service. The form on the home page loads a small script from Kit to submit your address, and your address is stored with them. You will get one confirmation email from Kit first, and you are only on the list once you click the link in it. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list. You can also email [email protected] and ask to be removed.

We do not sell, rent, or share the list.

Analytics and cookies

This website uses no analytics at this time and sets no cookies of its own. If we add a privacy-respecting, cookie-free analytics service later, this page will say so.

Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the technical details of each request, such as your IP address, to deliver the page. We do not use that data.
